About the content

This talk was delivered live in June 2017 at AltConf. The video was recorded, produced, and transcribed by Realm, and is published here with the permission of the conference organizers.

Paola Mata

I’m Paola (not Paolo). I’m an iOS developer, social media addict, and occasional blogger based in Brooklyn.

I’m currently building awesome apps at BuzzFeed, where last year I was part of the team that launched the highly acclaimed BuzzFeed News app.

I am also actively involved in the tech community as co-founder of NYC Tech Latinas and regularly volunteer my time to promoting diversity in tech and supporting the next wave of new programmers.

When I’m not buried in code, you’ll likely find me binge-watching a sci-fi series on Netflix, lifting at the gym, or hunting down good eats.

Jay Dysart

Rare mix of creative and tech - an internet and new media strategist, consultant, designer, and developer with a broad range of experience. My background stems from the Performing Arts - having created and run a non-profit theater company before venturing into online interactive media. I’m always interested in new challenges in technology and focused on helping clients reach their goals through long-range vision and short-term action.

Ish ShaBazz

Experienced Network Engineer with nearly a decade of combined experience within Cisco Systems and Cisco Partners. In my spare time I am an iOS Developer who has been featured by Apple in their ‘Best New Apps’ section of the App Store and by Starbucks as their ‘Pick of The Week’.

Manuela Rink

Manu Rink is a mobile enthusiast long before there was an iPhone. After working for a couple of years in the enterprise business and creating big data visualisations she finally dropped the mic and made her passion to her profession. For the last four years Manu was working as a mobile software engineer and architect and led the development of a couple of #1 App Store apps. Since 2016 she is a technical evangelist @Microsoft and inspires a wide audience of techies for her beloved topics including mobile development, devops and gaming.

Werner Huber

I’m a passionated software engineer, working at Sixt Rent a Car as Head of Software Engineering Frontend - leading a department of 30+ software engineers. Additionally I’m working as a freelance iOS developer and consultant.
